Winning this lottery will make you

sprout wings and FLY.

How to Win the Angels in America Lottery - it's actually possible.

1. Enter Online via Broadway direct

Digital lotteries have become popular on Broadway, thank god. They are so much easier than having to stand at the theater in person like we did in the olden days. Websites like Broadway Direct have links to enter several lotteries, making them a convenient one-stop shop for lottery tickets.

2. Select the performances you'd like to attend.

It makes sense to choose more than one. You probably won't win on your first try.

3. Select the number of tickets you'd like to receive: 1 or 2.

I always just pick 2 and assume I'll find a friend to come if I win. Haven't been wrong yet!

4. Hope and Pray. These things are competitive!

Just cross your fingers.

5. Check your email around noon.

It's worth getting in the habit of checking your email around noon. They always draw results at noon and email  all the entrants shortly after. You'll only have an hour to claim the tickets and pay if you win. This is worth setting up push notifications for.

6. Pick up tickets at the box office, photo ID required.

This is the easy part. Enjoy the show!

More ticket Info:

How much were the tickets?
$34 per person for each show. I paid $74 to attend parts I and II. I felt my money was totally well spent.

What options are there other than buying online or at the box office?

Angels in America offers a limited number of rush and lottery tickets for most performances. The lottery is made available for entries 1-2 days before a given performance through Broadway Direct. Decisions are made the day before the performance.

Winners have an hour to claim their tickets via email and pay online. The Lottery offers tickets to part I and II and if you win you must buy both. Seating is subject to availability. Tickets (for both parts as a bundle) cost $74 per person, and you can enter for 1 or 2 tickets.

Rush tickets are sold the day of the performance at the theater starting at 10 am. First come, first serve. Rush tickets are available for the performances on that day, which in most cases means you are paying $37 for either part I or part II. On Saturday you can buy tickets to both parts for $74. Each person can buy no more than 2 tickets. Rush is only offered when seats are unsold for that performance.

How did i win the angels lottery?

Luck and persistence.

I used this link to enter the lottery. Like, every day.

When I read the glowing NY Times review I thought my chances of getting reasonably priced tickets were screwed. A show with multiple celebrities AND an awesome review in the Times? Just two months before the Tony Awards? How the hell was I going to get a seat without selling my left arm on the black market/reddit???

After a few weeks of failure I finally got the email. I won two tickets to the Saturday performances on March 31st! I promptly canceled all my previously scheduled plans and found a fabulous friend to accompany me for the day.

Thank you, sweet, sweet lottery tickets.
